Ishaan is an underwriter with over 6 years of experience in evaluating real-estate assets across North America and India. At present, he serves as a Senior Analyst at FullG, a private equity backed commercial real estate fund, and oversees financial analysis for critical functions including acquisitions, asset management, and finance.

 

His journey into the world of investments commenced during his university days while pursuing a degree in Mathematics. He interned under a technical analyst and a derivatives trader, gaining first-hand experience in pricing assets through options trading. Dinner table debates with his father (a loyal fundamental investor) prompted him to explore various investment styles.

 

In 2015, Ishaan joined an arbitrage fund as a research analyst, where he played a pivotal role in developing and executing trading strategies. He later ventured into setting up his independently managed long-short fund, where he raised capital from family and friends, to trade partially automated, medium-frequency derivatives strategies.

 

In 2019, Ishaan transitioned to the realm of private credit investments in the Indian real estate sector. He joined a pension fund backed Alternative Investment Fund as an underwriter and worked on 35+ transactions. He actively participated in the asset management functions, serving on the project monitoring committee for major investments.

 

In 2022, seeking new horizons, Ishaan immigrated to Canada as a Permanent Resident and joined Barney River, a family office focusing on upscale hotels and multi-residential apartments across the country. His role included providing underwriting support for all portfolio investments.

 

Leveraging his extensive experience and insights gained over the years, Ishaan believes in three investment styles – i) Quant Trading - To advantage from past patterns for future investing, ii) Value Investing - To advantage from variance in the book value and actual price of an asset, and iii) Macro Investing - To advantage from economic conditions across global markets. He believes that a solid investment thesis cannot guarantee results, and strong asset management functions play a critical role in keeping the asset mark-to-market with the original underwriting numbers.

 

Ishaan holds a master's degree in actuarial management and a bachelor's degree in mathematics.
